Ringing… Ringing… Ringing… spam?

We all ignore unknown calls because who wants to discuss urgent loan offers or win a fake lottery, right?

But what if I tell you that an unknown call could be the life changing one? A candidate kept receiving calls from an unknown US number for a month. The candidate ignored them all, assuming it was spam.

Later it turns out, it was Amazon's recruitment team! When he finally realised, he tried calling back, only to get a “call not monitored” message and lose a rupee as a fee. Peak comedy of blunders and blunders…

The candidate must have realised : Rejecting an unknown caller too fast could cost losing a dream job….. Opportunity could pop out at any time like relatives in weddings, be ready!

Did you miss any call that could have changed the fortune for you?

How to Make a Good Video Resume (Tips & Examples)

  • Self-introduction: Your name, the position you’re applying for, and your experience level. Something simple like, “Hello, my name is Matt and I’m a graphic designer with 7 years of experience in the travel industry” should be enough.
  • Say why you’re applying for the position: Tell them why you’re interested in the role you’re applying for and show your passion for the job. Make it specific, not generic.
  • Include key accomplishments: Give a quick summary of relevant accomplishments throughout your career. Keep it brief (1-2 achievements) and make sure you quantify your accomplishments.
  • Add recommendations (optional): If you have good feedback from previous employers or clients, use a snippet as proof of the expertise and accomplishments you just mentioned.
  • Closing: Re-iterate why you’re interested in the position

Why to retain employees?

The problem that many organisations have is retaining their employees. Few organisations may believe that hiring new employees will enable them to attract new talent but doing so increases costs for the business. It requires funds for advertising, training, and onboarding of new employees. The following are some justifications for retaining your employees.

  • Cost of turnover: As was already indicated, there are expenses related to hiring new personnel, training them, buying assets for the candidates, providing insurance, and other advantages. The departing candidate must be compensated by the company. According to some research, it will cost the business the equivalent of 6 to 9 months of an employee's income to recruit and train a replacement.
  • Strategy leaks: Each organisation has its own unique strategy. Its leak would be detrimental to the organisation. Senior personnel design these strategies by taking into account the difficulties they experience managing projects or jobs. This indicates that employees are aware of the plan. If an employee leaves the company, there is a potential threat that such a strategy will be leaked to the market.
  • More employee expertise: Employees have more time to develop their expertise the longer they work for a company. Older personnel have a thorough understanding of procedures, which will benefit the organisation. The task will take a new employee longer to complete than it will take an experienced employee.

Businesses that focus more on staff retention and mitigating risk of turnover grow significantly more than companies that don't.

Employee retention is also influenced by finding the right applicant for your company. Hiring a competent, talented, and suitable candidate will enable them to work for the company for longer.

Top resume errors to Avoid

Resume mistakes, at best, give a bad first impression; at worst, they’ll cost you the job.

Here are some common mistakes to avoid :
  1. Pass the 6-second exam: Recruiters spend only 6 seconds on average evaluating each resumeMake an instant positive impact.
  2. Don't include all work details: Don’t include the jobs that you had for a short period.
  3. Keyword use: Including too many industry-related keywords in your resume may impair its credibility.
  4. Bolding inaccurate information: Bold your position with the company rather than just the corporation you worked for. This is what the hiring manager or recruiter is searching for.
  5. Inclusive of personal interests: It's advisable to keep out your hobbies unless they're related to the job.
  6. Include a photograph: With the extensive usage of social networking sites, adding photographs to resumes is no longer necessary.
  7. Emphasis on Relevant  Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are no longer desirable skills. Instead, leverage that area to emphasize your industry's experience with more diverse technological tools.
That covers all of the most typical resume blunders. However, perfecting your CV is only the first step in your job hunt; you must also apply for the proper positions, create a compelling cover letter, and nail the interview.

All the best
