Time spent on hiring is time well spent!!

As a hiring managers, knowing what to look for in a resume becomes essential when you post a job for a high volume position and receive over 200 resumes for screening.

The hiring manager must adopt the attitude that they must look beyond the resume in order to construct a high performing team. The hiring manager must scan the resume and determine whether the individual has the necessary experience or not. The recruiter must craft questions to get more information about the past positions since the resume just includes a synopsis of the previous position. Here are a few crucial details that should not be overlooked during the screening process.

  • Relevant Experience: Particularly for tech positions, it is crucial to verify the amount of experience and area of expertise that are pertinent. The candidate's prior duties must be understood by the recruiter. Additionally, the hiring manager must review their social media pages to verify the information listed on the resume.
  • Integrity and work ethics: Because training in this area is quite difficult, candidates must have strong work ethics and integrity. Technical skills can be taught; ethics cannot. While unethical candidates may harm the organisation, ethical candidates will assist it. Work ethics can be assessed by putting candidates in the different situations.
  • Willingness to learn: The candidates' learning capacities might be linked to any extra courses or certification programmes. The interviewer must probe about new skills picked up from prior employment.
